I want to still love this place, I really do but I've moved on to find a new regular chinese place. We used to only order from Ruan's for years but now it seems like they've cut costs. The crab rangoon used to be stuffed but now you barely get any filling. Wouldn't boycott it forever but it is no longer my number one choice.

Fast delivery if local. Very skimpy on the meat, horrible crab Rangoon, they don't care if you complain. Better idea to go to chi tung. Nothing authentic about this place. I owner has no shame in bad service

Our daughter was in the Hope Children's hospital in Oak Lawn on Sunday night for emergency surgery, and we hadn't ate all day, so by the time we got the chance, the cafeteria was already closed. The nurse's station had a book of menu's for local places that deliver food. We really wanted Chi Tung, but they had a 2 hour wait for delivery, and we didn't have the time to wait. We found a menu for Ruan's Chinese food so we thought we would give it a shot. I honestly have to say, that this was the worst Chinese food I've ever had in my life. It was even worse than Panda Express. We both ordered the "House Special Lo Mein" which was to include shrimp, chicken and beef. What we got was something like no Lo Mein I've ever experienced. Instead of Lo Mein noodles, they used fettuccine noodles, and they were so over-cooked, they were mushy and fell apart when picked up with a fork. We both got maybe 2 shrimp in our orders, and the few pieces of beef that were in the dishes very fatty and tough, and there wasn't much chicken to be had either. The worst part was the "sauce," which was a thick brown gelatinous gloppy substance with a strange flavor. Also, what was supposed to be vegetables was a few pieces of soggy celery and onion that looked like it had been boiled. After the first few bites, both my wife and I looked at each other and said, "this food is awful"! We didn't even finish a quarter of our orders as we pretty much lost our appetites after trying to eat it. We ended up throwing it in the garbage as we couldn't even eat it. What a waste of $23.00! We were so disappointed as we hadn't eaten all day and now this. And, to make things worse, later on I felt like I had WWIII going on in my stomach! Ugh! If the rest of their food is this bad, I don't know how they stay in business.Stay away!

Beware bad service and food Worst place I have ever went too...I ordered Mongolian beef is wasn't cooked and cut. They would return it, they don't care about the customers need at all. They didn't even apologize

This place is pretty similar to all of the other neighborhood Chinese take-out places. The menu is pretty decently-sized, and the portions are very generous. I can't say much more than that; most of these places are pretty indistinguishable. What earns this place an extra star is the consistently quick and friendly service that I've received each time. I'm glad that they're in the neighborhood.

After being disappointed by another local more popular Chinese restaurant I decided to search for something better and I found it with Ruan's. The prices are spot on, the staff is friendly, and the food is fresh. This is now my go to Chinese spot.

A not very good Chinese kitchen. The seafood combo contained hardly any sea food and the broccoli did not seem very fresh the night I went. This place was very disappointing and they need to improve things over in this kitchen and improve their portions of meat in their dishes

Live one block away. Portions are huge, prices are reasonable . Service is speedy. Always get the order correct. Fried rice, egg rolls, chop suey and more have always been excellent. Glad to have this place in the neighborhood. Entree, rice, egg-roll, soda for $6!! Stay away from the burger franchises and come here!! Very clean, friendly!

Ruan's has the best Chinese on the south side. Have never eaten in, strictly delivery, which is always prompt. They offer skinnier-than-normal egg rolls, which are a must. Crab Rangoon are solid, but not excellent. The Chop Suey is a staple, which they do very well.

This is my favorite local Chinese place short of going some place fancier like Chi Tung. 1. The portions are good 2. The prices are right (where else can you get an entree, fried rice, an egg roll, and a soda for $6?) 3. Service is fast 4. They have the best orange chicken I've ever had ANYWHERE. I also really enjoy their shrimp with lobster sauce. The only downside is I did experience disappointing service once. I order from them on a regular basis, and they always deliver to my house, which is about 5 minutes from their location. One night I called to order dinner at about 8:30. Their menu listed that they were open until 9:15 on this particular night. I placed the order but when I gave my address to the person on the phone she told me they couldn't deliver to my house because it's too far. Baffled, I explained to her that they always deliver to my house and in fact they also deliver to my office which is about 10 minutes further away. "NO! TOO FAR!" The woman yelled into the phone before hanging up abruptly. Um ok I thought to myself....I'll just go to Chi Tung instead. I placed my order and headed over to Chi Tung. On the way there I had to drive past Ruans. It was about 8:45 and I noticed they were already closed and all the lights were off. I'm thinking they just wanted to go home early that night and that's why they wouldn't take my order. Oh well. It hasn't stopped me from going here since that's literally the only problem I've ever had.

I've had my fair share of Chinese food throughout the years and this is by far one of the worst places I've eaten. The delivery was fast but the food was beyond bland and wayyyy to greasy. The meat tasted weird and I'm praying I didn't eat dog. I wouldn't recommend ordering from here at all.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
